Katherine Harvey creates wire bird sculpture using steel binding wire which is bound around itself as she does not use solder. Katherine also uses nickel silver to label her work which has been inspired by taxidermy (stuffed birds). Each of Katherine's sculptures is then placed onto a plaster base. Katherine Harvey studied Design Crafts at Staffordshire University and now sells her work through Crafts fairs and exhibitions.
"My keen interest in the natural world has led to the drawing of birds in the wild. These drawings are then worked up from two dimensional images into tree dimensional sculptures by replacing pencil lines with steel wire: to attempt to capture the birds lively, animated characteristics."
