The inspiration for Edward's sculptures evolve from events and happenings of every day life. Ideas can build over years to the completed image forming in his mind. Some like the pheasant taking off happen in an instant.
These forms are rotated and built upon in his minds eye. Not so much a pictorial image but a sensation, a form, an abstract. He 'feels' his way around the sensation until the creation has been built torn down and rebuilt several times. Then it is ready for the next stage.
Chasing the dream, putting the form into a hard copy. Building the sculpture is always frustrating following an abstract image created in his mind. Edward is quite open about the agonies of the physical process of creation; of getting so close yet remaining so far.
